About the Venue

Mansfield Raceway was originally built as a .375-mile, high-banked dirt track in 1959. Due to financial troubles in the late 1980s, the track was shut down.  Unsuccessful attempts to rehabilitate Mansfield Raceway were made in the early 1990s.  In 1998, the track was purchased at a Sheriff's Auction and first on the agenda was changing the track's name to Mansfield Motorsports Speedway.

The old dirt track was converted into a .50-mile asphalt track, but the high banks from the original track were kept. The new Mansfield Motorsports Speedway was opened in May 1999 with continuous improvements still being made to restore the track.  In 2004, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited the track for the first time.
