Mayfield loses ride
Tags: jeremy mayfield
Jeremy Mayfield is out as driver of Haas CNC Racing's No. 70 Chevrolet, at least for this weekend's Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.
According to a Monday update of NASCAR's entry list for the race, Mayfield has been replaced in Saturday's race by Johnny Sauter, who drove for the Haas organization last season and was let go.
In seven races in the No. 70 this season, Mayfield is 36th in driver points and has a best finish of 16th at Las Vegas. He has not finished better than 30th in his past four races.
Last year with Haas, Sauter finished 30th in points with one top-five and two top-10 finishes. His career-best Cup finish is fifth, in September at Richmond, Va. (From Charlotte.com)
